A Career in Real Estate Sales?

START AN EXCITING CAREER IN REAL ESTATE SALES

People that have a general interest in Real Estate, Buyers and Sellers alike, often make excellent Realtors©.  Just by visiting this page might indicate that you have some interest in becoming a licensed real estate agent.

Becoming an agent is not very difficult, nor very expensive, compared to other career paths and education costs.  Generally you can meet the licensing requirements in about 4 – 8 weeks, depending on how much of your week you can dedicate to classes. And the costs associated with licensing range from about $1,000-$1,500, including books and testing.  Yes, there is a state mandated exam that you will be required to pass.  Passing is all that you need to be concerned about, your grades in class and your exam score are not important once you enter the REAL world of Real Estate Sales.

To be able to even sit for the exam, you must secure the support and recommendation of an active real estate Broker.  The broker will have you fill out a “Request to Test” form and he must sign it (as well as you) and the Broker will mail it to the state for you to be able to test for your sales license.  A sales agent MUST be associated with a licensed real estate Broker in the State of Ohio, to legally receive commission income from the sale of the public real estate.

If you want to know all the details of becoming a licensed sales agent in the state of Ohio, click this link to the Dayton, Ohio Area Board of Realtors web site  http://www.dabr.com/education/pre-lice.htm.

Cruising the site will most likely answer every question you may have about the process.

HOW MUCH CAN AN AGENT EARN FROM REAL ESTATE SALES ?

There are no ceilings on your potential earnings from real estate sales.  Many agents in Ohio are earning  well in excess of $100,000, some in excess of $400,000, obviously they are the pinnacle of success compared to most careers let alone real estate sales.  While the averages are considerably less that these numbers, I am sure that you do not think of yourself as AVERAGE.

The key ingredient is to be associated with a company that generously shares the following with their agents:

ü      Commission splits.  The agents split the commissions they earn with their Broker, who in turn pays for the overhead of the office and many other things.  The more the Broker pays, the less expense to the agent, and therefore the more the agent takes to their bank.  Some new agents in Dayton, OH, take home less than 30% of their hard earned commissions, our company's new agents take home more than 60%.

ü      Training Time.   New agents do not learn to sell real estate in real estate school.  Strange but true.  You learn to sell either from the school of hard knocks, or from any training your Broker offers as well as other training.

ü      Technology.  Real Estate sales is a technology game today.  Most companies provide little in computer support, let alone a computer.  Our offices are well wired.
